Ome.ggAn Omegle Alternative Without the Webcam
Omegle shut down in November 2023 after nearly fifteen years, and the sites that rushed to replace it mostly rebuilt the same thing: a webcam pointed at a stranger.
Ome.gg took the other route. Text chat with strangers, free and anonymous, and you're never on camera with someone you've been matched with.
What's the same
The core loop is intact: you arrive, you're matched with a stranger, and you talk. No account, no email, no profile to build first. If it isn't working, you skip and the next person is a second away.
Interests still shape who you meet — pick from a curated set of tags and the matcher prioritises overlap for the first fifteen seconds of your wait before relaxing so you're never stuck in an empty queue.
What's deliberately different
No video with strangers. That's the substantive difference and it isn't an oversight — a camera pointed at anonymous strangers produces one specific, extremely well-documented problem, and taking the camera out of random matching removes it structurally rather than moderating it after the fact. Video calling here only works between two people who have accepted each other as friends, which means it can't happen to you unprompted.
Beyond that: real-time message moderation, one-tap reporting on every message and profile, a friends list with private DMs so a good conversation doesn't have to end when the match does, public group chatrooms, and games built into one-to-one chats.

If what you want is webcam roulette, this isn't a replacement and it's better to say so than to waste your time. There are sites that do that; this isn't one.
If what you liked about Omegle was talking to a random person at 2am with no strings attached, that part is all here — and without the camera, the signal-to-noise ratio is dramatically better.

Omegle alternative — frequently asked questions
Is Ome.gg the same as Omegle?+
No. The random-stranger format is the same, but random matching here is text, with no camera and no microphone at all. It also adds a friends list, private DMs, public chatrooms and in-chat games. Voice and video calling exist only between people who have accepted each other as friends — never with a stranger.
Why no video?+
Anonymous webcam chat has one well-known failure mode. Removing the camera removes that entire category of behaviour structurally, rather than trying to catch it after it happens.
Is it free?+
Yes — random text chat, public rooms, friends and DMs, all free without an account. Premium adds optional extras like the gender filter.
Do I have to register?+
No. You get an anonymous handle on arrival. Linking an email is optional and only gets you a custom handle and a public profile page.
Is it moderated?+
Yes — messages pass through real-time filtering, every message and profile can be reported in one tap, and reports are reviewed. The site is 18+.
