The room list, chat view and message composer are all built for one-handed use on a phone screen rather than being a desktop layout squeezed down. Rooms sit in a scrollable sidebar you can collapse when you want the screen back.

Push notifications are available if you turn them on — for direct messages, friend activity and incoming calls — and off entirely if you don't. Rooms you've joined show unread badges in the sidebar instead.

There are twelve interface themes, several of them dark enough to use in bed without lighting up the room, and the choice is remembered on your device. It's a small thing, but a chat app is something you mostly use at night on a phone.

Generally yes. It's a browser page rather than a heavy native app, and text chat in particular is very light.

How much mobile data does it use?+

Very little. Random chat and public rooms are typed and carry no video at all, which is the heaviest thing a chat app can do to your allowance.
